The Teapot

Image
It is just a simple pewter teapot, in the shape of a tomato. Made by WS Burton at 39 Oxford Street in London's fashionable West End. On the 9th of November in 1862, it was given to my great-great grandparents on the occasion of their marriage. The Lady of Chilham Castle was the gift giver. Family stories said that Stephen Sayer Wills was a carpenter and Elizabeth Greenstreet worked at the castle. Their daughter, my great-grandmother, Emily Sayer Wills brought her two daughters and the teapot to Canada in 1921. I am the 5th generation to own it and someday it will pass to Little M, my grandchild.     With the teapot comes many stories and memories. And I want to publish them, some on this blog and some in a book for her. Before they are lost. So many stories are already lost with loved ones. I wish I had talked and written them down before they passed.      So this is my start. With just that simple teapot.
